CHFI’s musical adjustments are paying off in tremendous numbers. They are up over 3 and a half shares from the last book and now command over a 6 point lead over second place CHUM-FM. The CBC is doing quite well. It’s up 1,3 shares and remains in 3rd. 680 News dropped a share but managed to hand on the 4th spot. Virgin also softened, but still win the CHR war at present. CFRB was down slightly, but gained a spot to 6th. Q107 was down almost a half point to 5.8 and 7th position. Boom went bust this time and fell from a 5.7 to a 4.9. Moses Znaimer’s Classical 96 did quite well. It was up .8 of a share. The rest of Toronto was unchanged.

News/Talk CKNW softened a bit, but is still a comfortable 4th. Virgin was flat, while their format competitor, The Beat, rose up a half share, but remain behind them in 5th. Pattison’s country station, JRfm, dropped a full share and fell to 6th. The rest of the market saw News1130 up nicely, Jack softened, Team 1040 welcomed back NHL hockey which was their fortunes increase accordingly and the rest of the stations were largely unchanged.

Rawlco’s Now! Radio is still on top in the Alberta capital. The station’s popularity just continues to increase and they now hold a 2 share bulge over their nearest competitor. CHED is as steady as ever at 2. The Bear is winning the rock wars and have made great gains over the past couple book. They sit in 3rd while 96.3 Capital FM is in a virtual tie with them at 4th. Up was quite a bit up and gained a share and a half and a few market spots. CISN were surprisingly soft this time out. They dropped 1.5 shares and now sit the 6th position. The rest of Edmonton was fairly steady..

Country 105 is back on top. The Corus powerhouse has remained very consistent over the past few books and the strength of the format at the moment will likely keep it strong in the near future. Corus are 1 and 2 in the market with News/Talk QR77 only .1 of a share behind. CBC is down a share from the last book, but remains in 3rd. Rogers Lite 95-9 made a significant improvement and became the only Calgary station to cume over a million. That saw it move up a couple spots to 4th. XL103 FM softened about a half share and dropped a spot to 5th. Astral’s Virgin was down 1.3 shares and dropped to 6th. Another CHR in the market, Newcap’s Amp, did well and grew by over a share, but still sit behind Virgin in 7th. CJAY was fairly steady, but both Q107 and Kool 101.5 were down.

Media company Corus Entertainment will purchase six of the TV stations and two radio stations for $400 million. The others will be sold in an auction process.
