The CBC is once again back in the #1 spot in Vancouver. The only other station to make it into the double digits was Bell’s CIQM which had their best showing for 2014 but could only manage #2. The Corus news/talk station CKNW made it to #3 and beat our CFBT which dropped a spot to 4th. Pattison’s country station, 93.7 JRfm (CJJR-FM) picked up audience but remained in 5th spot. CFMI-FM (Rock 101) is 7th place, but drooped a full point which must be a concern for Corus.
Newcap now owns 2 FM’s and 1 AM Vancouver. They quickly blew up Virgin and on 31 March 2014 to become Z95.3 and have picked up some audience and managed 9th just behind Jack FM, the Rogers Adults Hits station. Newcap is the 4th owner to get the keys to what was CHHR-FM (Shore FM) and turned that into CHLG playing “Vancouver’s Greatest Hits.” It’s early days yet for this format, but so far they are not moving the needle.
