CHFI had a monster book and clearly benefited from running the All Christmas format. They now have an 18 share which is almost double what the next FM Commercial station has. CHUM FM have lost audience share for the 4th book in a row so we might see some changes there. CBC had their best book ever with a 10.5% share, and 680 news had a nice uptick in share and are back into 4th spot. Rounding out the good news for Rogers is their CHR KISS FM got a little bump in share and are back to their record highs at a 4.4 share.
Virgin (CKFM-FM) had another share drop but managed to hang on to 5th spot. The Boom format (CHBM) was about static but look for Newcap to get the keys in the next 60 days and make some changes. I would have thought CFRB would have done better given all the attention on their weekend host Rob Ford. He is now gone and replaced by other politicians, so we should see the impact of “no Rob Ford” in the next measurement period. Q107 slipped a little which may be why they are now aggressively marketing on television.
The other format that looks to be in trouble is The Edge (CFNY) who have had three down books in a row. At the same time the new Indie station (CIND) looks to be gaining traction now they have increased their transmitter power. They doubled their share and grew their cume by over 30%.
