Doing a cash drop or letting money fall from the sky is nothing new. But an Australian radio station put a new twist on it recently and got a lot of attention when they promised to “rain $100,000 down on listeners.”
Last Friday (7 February) Fox FM in Melbourne’s Fifi & Dave made it rain cash all over a local park in a suburb of Melbourne. The on-air contest resulted in 60 on-air finalists being invited to Melbourne’s Gosch’s Paddock for the chance to win a share of $100,000 cash – but to keep it they had to catch it!
Three contestants were chosen to enter the Thunderdome to play for their share of the cash. They were equipped with giant cone-shaped backpacks for additional cash-catching support. All up it cost the station about $26,000.
