The CRTC are moving to a simplified and harmonized approach that should speed up the decision process of broadcasting applications. The aim of these new procedures is to see broadcasting applications considered at a hearing or proceedings initiated by the Commission as a result of a Part 1 application to be released within 4 months after the “close of record.” This will be typically at the end of a hearing. |
| Non appearing applications will be released within one month after the date of receipt. Ownership changes will also been be quicker, and could be released as soon as two months after filing depending on the type of application.
