Mix 106 morning show co-host Bob Wallace braved below freezing temperatures for a 24-hour period all in support of the Children’s Aid Society of Owen Sound. This holiday season there are approximately 90 families depending on the CAS to help them with holiday needs such as meals and gifts. This is in addition to the over 200 children who are in the care of the CAS in our area.

CIQX-FM Calgary – Licence amendment and renewal

The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for the English-language commercial FM radio station CIQX-FM Calgary from 1 March 2008 to 31 August 2014. The Commission also approves the licensee’s request to amend CIQX-FM’s licence by deleting the conditions of licence related to its operation within the Specialty FM format.

The Commission approves the application by Newcap Radio Manitoba Inc. (Newcap) to change the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CHNK-FM Winnipeg by increasing the effective radiated power from 1,300 watts to an average effective radiated power of 60,200 watts, by increasing the effective antenna height to 176.1 metres, and by relocating the transmitter.

XM BASE GROWS TO 350,000
Strong double-digit growth continues with almost all growth in self paying subscribers

Canadian Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. ("CSR"), through its XM Canada satellite radio service, announced today it has achieved 350,000 subscribers as of the end of its first quarter ended November 30, 2007. The number of subscribers increased by 86 per cent over the first quarter of last year.

Don Imus returned to the air Monday morning on Citadel Talk WABC-A/New York and in syndication with a live broadcast from New York's Town Hall, introducing the members of his broadcast crew and guest performer Levon Helm, who opened the show with "Ashes of Love." Charles McCord, Bernard McGuirk, and, back at the studio, Lou Rufino were introduced as returning to Imus' show, and Hackensack Medical Center aired a special spot as the first returning advertiser.

WARNER MUSIC PROFIT FALLS

Warner Music Group on Thursday (Nov. 29) revealed a fall in quarterly profits. The company posted $5 million in net income, or 3 cents per diluted share, on revenues of $869 million in its fiscal fourth quarter ended Sept. 30. That figure is down 62% from the $12 million in net income, or 8 cents per diluted share, the company posted in the fiscal fourth quarter last year.
